Being a women's suffragette is a difficult thing. People treat you horribly, and you get arrested frequently. On some occasions you may even go to prison. Alice Paul did, many times at that. Every time she never gave into the system. The prisons have protocols they have to take if a certain situation arises. For example, force feedings. Alice Paul was force fed not only in a prison in England but also one in Virginia. In this news articles she tells people how she was force fed in the prison. She resisted every time, but she had been weak. She still bit down on the tubes, and ruined whatever she could. Her and her companions soon got the name Iron Jawed Angels. (The name soon became the title of a 2004 movie about her life)
It is a very upsetting and disgusting action. Just some prisons don't like to lose to an inmate, and listening to her demands would be just that.
